In a significant move toward sustainability and energy efficiency, Southeast Arkansas College (SEARK) partnered with ENFRA to launch a transformative energy project, highlighting the successful collaboration and underscoring the positive impact of their efforts on both the institution and the wider community.
Structured as a 20-year Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC), the $6.7 million project at Southeast Arkansas College (SEARK) is projected to deliver total savings of $12.4 million. This includes $3 million in energy savings, $427,670 in operations and maintenance savings, and $8.97 million in avoided capital costs. The initiative also secured $1.8 million in HEER funding and an additional $264,073 in rebates and tax credits, bringing total project funding to over $2 million.
At the heart of the project is SEARK’s pioneering solar array—a clear reflection of the institution’s commitment to sustainability. ENFRA led the implementation of key infrastructure upgrades, including a chilled water system overhaul, pump replacements at Founders Hall and McGeorge, and enhancements to air handling units. Additional improvements included upgrades to heating water systems, indoor air quality enhancements, and advanced campus-wide security measures.
The partnership between SEARK and ENFRA highlights the power of strategic collaboration in the AEC industry to drive energy efficiency, cost savings, and environmental stewardship. This project not only supports SEARK’s sustainability goals but also sets a benchmark for other institutions seeking long-term energy and operational resilience.
