Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center

Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center expanded its campus to enhance women’s services and newborn care. The Mother-Baby renovation and expansion project included labor, delivery, and recovery rooms, C-section rooms, NICU beds, and office upgrades. At the same time, the central utility plant was also upgraded to serve the expanded hospital.

ENFRA is providing mechanical and electrical construction on the project. The primary challenge is completing construction activities while the hospital remains occupied and fully operational. Our team has worked closely with facility personnel to minimize disruption to the hospital, including sensitive spaces such as surgery, in-patient, and COVID treatment areas. Necessary central plant shutdowns are scheduled in advance and closely coordinated to ensure no impact on patient care. In addition, the team is leveraging pre-fabrication to minimize on-site construction activities. All rooftop and cooling tower piping is being manufactured off-site and delivered for installation.
