ENFRA and CHRISTUS Health’s 30-year Energy-as-a-Service partnership delivers $128 million in infrastructure and energy efficiency improvements across six campuses in Texas and Louisiana, ensuring $39 million in guaranteed energy savings within the first decade. The project, set for completion in 2027, enhances sustainability by cutting electricity use by 16%, natural gas consumption by 25%, and carbon emissions by 19%, eliminating over 465,000 metric tons of CO₂ over 30 years.
ENFRA and CHRISTUS Health entered into an innovative 30-year EaaS partnership in April 2023. Through the partnership, ENFRA is implementing critical infrastructure improvements at six of CHRISTUS Health’s campuses in Texas and Louisiana. Using ENFRA’s EaaS model, CHRISTUS Health will see $128 million in infrastructure and energy efficiency improvements acting as a catalyst for lucrative conservation measures. Once implemented, the improvements will yield over $39 million in guaranteed energy savings over the first 10 years of the program.
The scope of improvements are expected to be complete in 2027 and include replacement and upgrades to chilled water and heating water systems, LED lighting upgrades, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, retrofit and upgrades to building automation systems, 1 MW ground mount solar array, and ENFRA Connect® for measurement & verification of savings, automatic fault detection, and monitoring-based commissioning.
The partnership across Spohn Shoreline, Children’s of San Antonio, Good Shepard Longview, Santa Rosa San Marcos, St. Frances Cabrini, and St. Michael Texarkana transfers risk of performance to Bernhard’s team of experts and brings stability to future plant and building operations and maintenance.
ENFRA and CHRISTUS Health share an unwavering commitment in the fight against climate change. During the length of the partnership, CHRISTUS Health’s facilities will solidify their sustainability efforts by reducing 16% of electricity consumption, 25% reduced natural gas consumption, and 19% reduced carbon emissions. The infrastructure upgrades across all six campuses will total more than 465,000 metric tons of CO2 eliminated over the next 30 years.
We greatly value our partnership with ENFRA. Their innovative Energy-as-a-Service approach seamlessly enhances our facility services at CHRISTUS; delivering immediate impact to daily facility management operations. This partnership ensures operational savings, promotes sustainability, and allows CHRISTUS to remain focused on delivering exceptional patient care.
