Safety

Know Safety. No Accidents.

Protecting the health and safety of our employees, business partners, and community members is one of ENFRA’s top priorities. We offer an industry-leading safety training program designed to maintain a safe and healthy work environment, safeguard everyone who enters, works, or lives near our worksites, and meet or exceed regulatory standards.

Safety: A Core Value at ENFRA

At ENFRA, safety is more than a priority—it’s a fundamental value embedded in everything we do. Every employee in our construction division is required to have a minimum OSHA 10 certification, while supervisors and management must obtain OSHA 30 certification. We foster a proactive safety culture by encouraging employees to identify and address hazards through our S.A.F.E. work approach: See it, Assess it, Fix it, Every day! This commitment has helped us maintain an EMR well below the industry average reported by BLS/NCCI and ensure strict compliance with project specifications.

Beyond compliance, we are leading innovation in workplace safety. As founding members of the Serious Injury and Fatality Prevention Center of Excellence (SIF Prevention COE), we contribute to industry-wide advancements in preventing serious injuries and fatalities. Our participation has transformed our safety program, shifting from a reactive model based on lagging indicators to a proactive strategy that analyzes risk factors and implements preventive measures.

This data-driven approach has led to continuous improvement, and in 2023, ENFRA achieved the lowest Total Recordable Incident Rate in our history. Through training, accountability, and cutting-edge safety initiatives, we are not just meeting industry standards—we are setting them.

Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental

At ENFRA, we celebrate employees for working safely and incentivize safety-minded decisions and a positive attitude. Likewise, Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental Suggestions are an open channel for team members to share experiences and help make our program transparent and responsive.

Training

Prior to worksite assignment, all employees receive qualified training. The ENFRA training portal contains resource material and qualified trainers. It includes a recap of prior incidents and a two-hour SAFE START orientation, as well as hazard communication, confined space entry, and preparation for the Safety Trained Supervisor Construction (STSC) examination.

Communications

Bulletins are sent to all job sites regarding common hazards or concerns that may or could cause a potential injury or construction defect. So-called “Toolbox Talks” cover HSE topics and qualified training requirements, along with proper use, installation techniques and safety around specific hazards.

Bulletins are also sent to all sites following an incident anywhere. These serve to inform employees of a construction site incident, its root cause and what should be done to prevent it in the future. Many times this process allows seasoned employees to share their experience with newer employees.

Job Sites

We ingrain safety into work environments by enlisting each worker into the workplace safety plan to avoid injury or systems non-compliance. Both scheduled and random inspections are performed for quality control and training. Job sites are evaluated for QHSE and concerns are addressed with project teams by risk priority. Employees on-site are informed of hazardous and non-compliant conditions, and deficiencies are corrected.

We believe there is a direct correlation between safety performance and optimal organizational performance. As much time as we spend on operational efficiency, we spend equal, if not more, time researching injury causation in the workplace. Understanding employee behavior is the result of the systems, guidelines, and culture that ENFRA leadership has instilled from the top down.
